Residential Rewiring

Rewiring typically occurs when a homeowner is upgrading an older home. In our area, some older homes have either knob-and-tube wiring or aluminum wiring.

There are still hundreds if not thousands of homes in the Oklahoma City area with knob-and-tube wiring, commonly used between 1880 and 1950. Aluminum wiring was used in the 1960’s and 1970’s, due to fluctuations in copper prices.

If you have either of these types of wiring, this does not necessarily mean you have a safety issue, but you may be interested in upgrading for any number of reasons. Common reasons that you may choose to rewire your home include:

  • an insurance-related issue
  • recommended by a home inspector
  • safety concerns over older wiring

These are not projects people typically undertake for fun. The cost to rewire a home will be several thousand dollars at minimum.

Rewiring a home is also a very labor-intensive project. Unfortunately, we have heard from our customers that many local contractors have been unwilling to provide an estimate or take this kind of job.

We are up for the challenge of your project! Baxter Electric has rewired thousands of home in Edmond and surrounding Oklahoma City area communities over the past 40 years.

We are more than happy to visit with you about your project and help walk you through the process. We will typically have some questions for you, and no doubt you will have some for us.

We prefer to have a meaningful conversation upfront and make certain you are comfortable with how we operate before asking you to invest your time having us out to your home for an estimate.
